3. Certificate of Appropriateness:

A.      15 Elizabeth St. Chris and Sherie Kelly  owners wish to replace existing deck with a larger deck of 320 sq. ft. with railings painted to match house.  Mike Long suggests making slats look like spindles by placing a board on back where joined and enclosing railings with a 2 x 4 at top and 2 x 6 at bottom.  Motion to approve made by Max Champion, seconded by Sam Swan.  All votes in favor.

B.      102 South St. Carl Townsend  owner wishes to build 32 x 46 garage at rear of property.  ZBA approval also required.  Owner reminded to provide pictures of site.  1st concern of Board is this is a residential area, not commercial.  The 10 doors do not fit in with the area  looks too commercial.  Owner states room is required for a Winnebago, antique car and five other cars on the property.  Mike L. suggests installing a traditional door and modifying at a later date as needed.  Sam states that a tall door that is wide would look more even than a tall, thin door.  Max suggests dormers with Mike L. concurring.   Mike D. states that new construction is give more latitude, it should blend but not look old.  Owner wants to install vinyl siding that matches the house, dutch lap, easier to use and care for.  Mike L. suggests adding corner boards also to match house.  Mike D. adds to use standard doors and give recommendation to ZBA.  Also, vinyl siding will keep cost down.  States dormers over doors would look nice.  Owner states only planned on overhead doors, no other windows or doors.  Mike L. suggests installing 8 x 8 doors side by side with 2 blocks of foundation exposed.  Mike D. wants sketch of dormers brought to Mike L. for approval instead of having another meeting.  Owner also wants to remove ramp in front of house.    Max suggests putting windows in South St. side.  Mike D. states to amend to include window design.  Mike L. will work with owner to include window design. Motion to approve with changes made by Betty Lewis, seconded by Max Champion.  All members vote approval.

3. Other matters.

        A.      Script for South St. video seems to skip around.  What will actually filming order be?  Question if to be divided by time periods, house styles, etc.  ID people, as not everyone knows who they might be.  Hamilton and Fitch need to be changed to Ave not St.  Hardenbergh did not settle immediately but after returning from war.  Seward was also senator for 12 years.  Other miss-spelled names and errors noted.  More famous homes need to be embellished  famous due to people associated not house style.   Chronological video shows samples of each and shows all homes though something need not be said about each.  Use in real estate.  1st get video for locals for pride in area then see if it can be marketed.

        B.      Max recommends letter to Great Race to find alternative to spray painting street.
