The Office of Planning and Economic Development employs a range of programs which enable the City to meet the needs of existing and expanding businesses, and businesses relocating to Auburn. The Office serves as a clearinghouse for information about Local, State, and Federal programs designed to promote business and facilitate economic development. Staff can determine eligibility for programs and aid in filing the proper paperwork for program participation.

A continued commitment to long term economic development is evidenced by the Office's support of organizations that encourage business expansion, retention, and solicitation. The Office provides technical and financial assistance to these organizations, such as Auburn Industrial Development Authority (AIDA) and Auburn Local Development Corporation (ALDC).

Through the efforts of the Office, two square miles within the City of Auburn have received designation as part of New York State's Economic Development Zone (EDZ). This designation provides businesses within the zone the opportunity to take advantage of numerous financial incentives for growth and expansion that are provided by the State. Staff provide support and information to businesses located or considering relocation into the zone.

Numerous events, programs and activities are supported and/or organized by the Office for the promotion of Economic Development. Take time to explore this section of our web site to learn more!
