Numerous supports exist within and around the City of Auburn for the training of business owners and employees:
· The Office of Planning and Economic Development (OPED). OPED staff can refer you to available financing and training opportunities for businesses and industries. For more information on a particular topic, contact OPED at (315)255-4115.
· Success in Small Business.~~ This program provides technical training for small business owners and individuals who are considering starting their own business. The program consists of nine weekly sessions that cover business planning, accounting & finance, marketing, insurance & legal issues, as well as topics on using information technology. The training series is conducted by Cayuga County Cornell Cooperative Extension, at their offices, and is offered twice a year. For more information, contact Nancy Anseth at (315)255-1183.
· Business and Industry Center (BIC). ~~ Cayuga Community College's BIC provides comprehensive services to the area business community. These services include gap analysis, strategic planning assistance, assessment of company training needs, custom-designed training programs and seminars, achieving ISO-9000 compliance, computer training, and national teleconferences. More than 15,000 area workers have participated in skill upgrade training since the BIC was established in 1985. For more information, contact Sue Kuncio at (315)255-1743.
· Technology Development Organization (TDO). ~~ Technical assistance on research and development, assessment and redesign of manufacturing processes, and product design and engineering is available through TDO of Central New York. The TDO is a non-profit organization that serves area manufacturers and high tech entrepreneurs. TDO services are provided on a fee basis. · Board of Cooperative Extension Services (BOCES).~~ BOCES offers training and development in such areas as computer software programs and applications, writing, and keyboarding. The organization also offers new hire screening, seminars to area businesses, and support for the

· Employment and Training Department. ~~The Cayuga County Employment and Training Department provides job seeking and job skills training and support for individuals who are unemployed or under-employed, and economically disadvantaged. For more information,

· Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). ~~The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) provides no-fee mentoring and business counseling to help small businesses. SCORE conducts pre-business start-up, as well as ongoing business counseling. For more information,
